Why Men’s Mental Health Should Be a Priority
Happy new month from all of us at Amani Health!
It’s hard to believe we’re halfway through the year already.
June is the sixth month of the year, a perfect time to pause, reflect, and realign. It is also significant for another reason:
It’s Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month, a month to shine a light on the silent struggles that many men face, often without ever speaking about them.
Why Men’s Mental Health Deserves Attention
Did you know that while men are less likely to be diagnosed with depression or anxiety, they are more likely to die by suicide?
Or that many men wait until a crisis hits before seeking help?
The truth is, men are often taught to "tough it out" and stay silent, but that silence can be dangerous.
Mental health challenges don’t always show up as tears or breakdowns. For men, they often appear as:
- Chronic stress or burnout
- Increased irritability or anger
- Withdrawal from family or friends
- Substance use
Physical symptoms like headaches, fatigue, or insomnia
These are not “just phases.” They’re signs that something deeper needs attention.

Why Men Avoid Therapy and Why That Needs to Change
Many men avoid therapy or mental health checkups because of stigma, fear of judgment, or the belief that asking for help is a sign of weakness.
But here’s the truth: prioritizing your mental health is one of the strongest things you can do.
At Amani Health, we want to break the silence around men’s mental health and normalize asking for help without shame.
This June, Let’s Change the Narrative
Here’s how we can make a difference during Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month:
- Encourage regular check-ins – Physical and mental.
- Normalize therapy for men – It’s not just okay to talk, it’s powerful.
- Create safe spaces – Whether at work, home, or in social circles.
- Share resources – Let men know where they can get help.
To Every Man Reading This:
Your health matters.
Your mental health matters.
It’s okay to take a break. To speak up. To rest. To feel.
You don’t need to carry the weight of the world alone.
To Everyone Else:
Let’s remind the men around us our brothers, fathers, husbands, sons, and friends that they deserve care too. Not just when they break down, but every day.
At Amani Health, we provide online therapy, wellness resources, and confidential support for men and their families. If you or a loved one is struggling, let us help.
